Privacy Policy
Sovereign Domains is committed to true privacy and data sovereignty. This policy explains our unique approach to protecting your information.
1. Core Privacy Principles
In Sovereign, privacy isn’t just a feature—it’s our foundation. Our platform is built on four key principles:
Private by Design
All data is encrypted locally before being sent and stored on the network, ensuring your information remains protected at all times.
Sovereign by Nature
You are the only one with the encryption keys and control of the data store, giving you true ownership of your information.
Censorship-Free
Our distributed ledger technology means no one can arbitrarily remove you or your content, protecting your freedom of expression.
Safe and Secure
You retain complete control over what content you see and who can interact with you, creating a personalized safe environment.
2. Data Collection Policy
2.1 Zero Data Collection
Sovereign collects no personal information whatsoever. We don’t:
- Use cookies or tracking technologies
- Store third-party data anywhere
- Use your data for any purpose
2.2 Pseudonymous Identity
Your Sovereign username is ’pseudonymous’. This means it is unique but is not related to any other identifier, like your phone number, email address, or payment method, which would otherwise compromise the legitimate privacy of your identity.
3. Security Architecture
3.1 Web3 Authentication
In Web3, authentication is done with cryptographic keypairs—one public and one private. You can think of the public key as the equivalent of your Web2 ’username’ and the private key as your ’password’.
To assist your migration from Web2, Sovereign creates a ’pseudo’ private key from your unique username and password. More specifically, Sovereign generates a 24-word seed phrase, from which your primary private key is derived. You should keep a note of this seed phrase somewhere safe but ensure you never share it with anyone else, or your account will be compromised. You can log in with it directly if you forget your username or password.
3.2 Key Management
The derived private key is as ’strong’ as the Web2 credentials you’re familiar with. However, true Web3 private keys are much stronger because they are randomly generated and so unique that there’s more chance of picking the same atom in the universe than generating the same private key as someone else by chance!
Your public key is derived from the private key in a one-way process, allowing you to share your public key for identification and encryption purposes. A second derivation is performed on your public key for further security, producing your public address, which you can share without risk of compromise.
3.3 No Registration Process
Due to the asymmetry in the keypair, there is no need for third parties to keep a copy of your ’credentials’ for authentication and decryption. Consequently, there is no ’registration’ process in Sovereign.
This also means you are solely responsible for your keys—there is no ’reset’ function. If you forget your username and password (and the private key derived from them), you are locked out of your account forever. It also means you cannot change your password because that would effectively create a new account.
Important Security Note
Your Sovereign private key, used for decryption and authentication, is created locally using a secret known only to you and not stored anywhere. If your other applications do not do this, your data is not really safe, secure, and private.
Once you log in, you can see your keys in settings, but you don’t need them to use Sovereign as they are stored in a temporary, secure wallet, which disappears when you log out or close your browser.
4. Data Protection
All data is heavily encrypted and stored anonymously on distributed ledgers. You are not permitted to use this app if it breaches data privacy and protection regulations in your jurisdiction.
5. Beta Testing Notice
Access to Sovereign Workspace through this site is identified as ’beta’ or pre-release. By using this app, you understand that such services are still in development and may:
- Contain bugs or errors
- Be incomplete
- Materially change prior to full commercial launch
- Never be released commercially
Although production blockchain servers are permanent and robust, this beta app is running on a testnet (or sandbox) which may experience frequent downtime and resets, resulting in the loss of all your data. Do not use this beta app except for testing purposes.
